A Trip to the Discovery Museum

This week we went to the Discovery Museum with Lauren's preschool class. It really is such a fun place to visit, and the kids had a blast. The museum is set up in stations, so the kids can go from place to place to learn and try different things. Here they are in the bug station, learning about bees, and checking out the honeycomb.
One of the rooms is set up like a Native American village, with drums, Tee pees, real animal skins, and a camp fire. The kids obviously LOVED the drums, the moms, not so much...but the tee pees were a close second.
Lauren and Collin liked trying out the pulley system. It is set up so you can fill a bin full of apples, and then use a pulley to get them to a tree house up above. Dallin just liked throwing the apples.
In the medical station, the kids played in an ambulance, and got to try out all the equipment. They loved looking at the X-rays and guessing which animal it was. They also enjoyed trying on the fireman gear.
Claire spent most of her morning in the stroller. She was happy just to be along for the ride.

Another room is set up with different types of ramps. Using golf balls the kids can try to roll them down and shoot them into targets. Again, Dallin mainly liked throwing the golf balls. :)

Lauren proved to be an awesome climber, as she braved the rock wall. It was a great morning. Thanks Miss Barb and Miss Melissa!

Claire's Treasures

Here's a riddle for you...what do the following items have in common?
a hot pink Barbie shoe,
a small toy slice of pizza,
a whole Strawberry Shortcake sticker,
a miniature Cabbage Patch cellphone,
a piece of green plastic,
and part of Jackson's homework
Have you guessed it yet? Yep, these are all items recently discovered in Claire's diaper. Oddly enough, the sticker was the most shocking. There is something very strange about finding Strawberry Shortcake smiling up at you from a dirty diaper. When I reported our recent findings to the pediatrician, he said, "Oh, don't worry--anything smaller than a quarter should pass through just fine." WHAT!!!???!!!

It's A Jungle In Here!

To celebrate Lauren's 4th birthday, we invited a few friends over for a WILD Jungle party. We made Jungle hats, painted a few faces, (not everyone was into the paints--including Lauren as it turned out!) and played games. The games portion was a bit crazy, as any organized activity with four year olds tends to be. The pop-the-balloon-with-your-bum game was a hit, Duck Duck Goose turned into crazy running through the house, and in the end, they just hit the play room while the moms talked. Lauren was a bit overwhelmed during the party, but AFTER the party she'd had a GREAT time! Here are a few pics from the festivities...
Although Jackson was in school during the actual party, he was thrilled to test drive my face painting skills, and the craft beforehand.
Nicolas is one of Lauren's favorite friends from preschool.
Maddie shows off her finished look, complete with feathers.
Ever the diva...
Collin gets his stripes
What a cute bunch of wild animals!

Happy Birthday Lauren!
